The recent testimony before Congress by former FBI director James Comey may have had some unintended consequences for the democrats and former Attorney General Loretta Lynch. And, according to Fox News legal analyst Judge Andrew Napolitano, the former AG may have “a lot of explaining to do”.
The Judge appeared on America’s News Room this morning and explained how “Comey laid out a case for misconduct in office for Loretta Lynch”.
“Did their former boss use the Department of Justice for political purposes? Did she tailor law enforcement decisions to help the Obama White House and Mrs. Clinton’s campaign?” the judge asked.
The matter came to light when Comey revealed that former Attorney General Loretta Lynch asked him to call the FBI probe into Hillary Clinton‘s email server a “matter” instead of an investigation during his testimony in front of the Senate Intelligence Committee.
Napolitano noted that attorneys general do not usually investigate their predecessors but Comey’s testimony did provide enough evidence to trigger an FBI investigation.
Last week, On CNN’s State of the Union, Senator Feinstein called for an investigation into whether Loretta Lynch provided cover for Hillary Clinton:
Keilar: “He felt clearly that Loretta Lynch was giving cover to the Clinton campaign. Was she?”
Feinstein: “I can’t answer that. I would have a queasy feeling too, though, to be candid with you. I think we need to know more about that, and there’s only one way to know about it, and that’s to have the Judiciary Committee take a look at that.”
Keilar: So you think it’s worth investigating if, in a way, this was semantic cover being given to the Clinton campaign?”
Feinstein: “Yeah, but this is a separate investigation…and I don’t think we should mix the two.”
Whether measures are taken against Lynch remains to be seen but Napolitano believes that she must still explain why she met with former President Bill Clinton on a plane while he and his wife were under investigation.
