Al Sharpton‘s National Action Network is organizing a hunger strike to protest the continued stall on a confirmation vote for Attorney General nominee Loretta Lynch.
NAN released a statement today railing against the “completely unfair and unnecessary delay to vote to confirm” Lynch (it’s been several monthsso far).
National Executive Director Janaye Ingram said, “We stand with Loretta Lynch and are so in support of this cause that we are willing to sacrifice our daily meals to impress upon the U.S. Senate that it’s time to call a vote.”
Here’s how Confirm Lynch Fast will work:
Participating fasters will refrain from eating for one day at a time until Loretta Lynch is confirmed as Attorney General. Each day, a new group of people will replace the fasters from the day before.
So not quite a hunger strike then.
