There are only a handful of Republican senators publicly supporting Loretta Lynch to be the next Attorney General, Lindsey Graham among them. And Graham isn’t particularly happy that his colleagues are holding her confirmation vote over concerns that more have to do with President Obama‘s executive actions than anything to do with Lynch herself.
In comments to The Huffington Post, Graham predicted they’d be able to pick up a few more Republican votes to get Lynch nominated. He points out that the GOP shouldn’t exactly want Eric Holder to stay on much longer and should want a “fresh face.”
As for the actions by his Republican colleagues, Graham lamented, “This, to me, is a sign of the dysfunction of this place. She’s qualified. Their frustration with the executive order, I share. I’d rather fight this in court.”
But, of course, the really big deal here is that best buds Graham and John McCain are at serious odds on this. McCain came out strong against Lynch on the executive action issue and declared that no Republican should vote for Lynch to be confirmed.
