Meghan McCain said that the revelation about the meeting between Attorney General Loretta Lynch and Bill Clinton was precisely why Bernie Sanders should stay in the Democratic race.
Speaking on Fox’s Outnumbered Friday, McCain said, “If I were [Sanders] right now, I would be on every show saying, ‘This is why I’m still in. This is why I’m still doing it. This woman could get indicted. Look what her husband’s doing. He’s trying to grease the rails to make sure nothing happens legally.'”
Both Lynch and the former president Clinton have drawn widespread criticisms for the optics catastrophe of the nation’s highest ranking law enforcement office meeting privately with Clinton, while his wife’s use of a private email server while secretary of State is currently under an FBI investigation.
McCain added: “Bernie Sanders should definitely continue to stay in.”
Sanders, for his part, has conceded that he is unlikely to win the Democratic nomination, though he had pledged to attend the convention in Philadelphia. He has pledged to help defeat presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump, but has not formally endorsed Clinton yet.
